Dear Alumni,
We sincerely invite you to be a mentor of the Rosaryhill School Mentorship Program (“Program”). This Program is organized by the Careers and Guidance Team of Secondary Section of Rosaryhill School (“RHS”) with the assistance from Rosaryhill School Old Students Association (“RHSOSA”). This Program would not be possible without your commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to share. We hope this will be an enriching and transformative experience for you.
PROGRAM PURPOSE
The Program provides an opportunity for students and alumni to connect in positive one-to-one mentorship relationships. Through the Program, alumni can enhance the quality of the current students’ experience by interacting, exchanging ideas, and sharing their experiences and knowledge with current students. The other purpose of the Program is to allow our alumni mentors to give back to their alma mater by serving as role models and leaders and we hope they can help this generation of students to pave way to reach their goals. In order to meet these goals and ensure lasting relationships between students and their mentors, great care will be taken in pairing alumni mentors with students who share similar hobbies and career interests.

MENTOR
Webster’s New World Dictionary defines mentor as “a person looked upon for wise advice and guidance”. A mentor can play many roles including coach, teacher, advocate, friend, cheerleader, and opener of doors. Though a mentor may be a role model, a true mentor does not ask another person to “be like me”. A mentor says, “I will help you be whoever you wish to be”. A mentor is not a parent, a peer, or a counselor. Above all, mentorship is about listening without negative judgments and questioning with respect. Enjoy your mentor-mentee relationship and to keep an open mind.
MENTORSHIP HANDBOOK
The handbook is designed to give you a thorough understanding of what the Program entails as well as some guidelines for our program participants. It is structured to provide an introduction of mentorship in Section 1. Details of the process of the Program are documented in Section 2. Alumni and students can find useful guidance about mentors and mentees in Sections 3 and 4 respectively. Please use it as a guide and reference throughout your mentorship experience and do feel free to share your suggestions with us, which will be extremely useful for our future alumni mentors and student participants.
For those who wish to join the Program as a mentor, please read the appended important dates to ensure you can fulfill the commitment to attend most of the events, then complete and submit your mentor application form on or before 7th September, 2011 (Wednesday). If you have further questions about the Program, please send an email to mentorship@rhsosa.org. We look forward to working with you!Yours truly,Fr. Francisco de las Heras
